Promiscuous mode is a mode to receive special for the network-technology devices such as wireless network cards. It is typically used for packet sniffing and network bridge for hardware virtualization. The frame is the MAC (Media Access Control) hardware address.

In this mode, this device allows all inbound traffic on the interface and sends the data processing operating system. Devices that can use this mode combination of switches and routers, network tester or even an ordinary computer with a connection to the network.

For wireless LANs in promiscuous mode will only forward packets from the network (access point) to which the client is connected. Promiscuous mode is not suitable to receive packets from the network that you have not because you need to authenticate yourself to the network.
